The first Xtrail Race of the 2016 season took place on May 28 at Mont Sutton in the Eastern Townships.
Braving the heat and humidity, 1,250 athletes took part in the event.
The Xtrail Race provided trail enthusiasts the opportunity to compete in distances of 1 km, 6.5 km, 11.8 km and 22 km.
At 6.5 km, Emmanuel Mercier won with a time of 30 minutes 34 seconds, followed by Nicolas Beaulieu.
In the women’s division, the winner was Chantal Dumont, with a time of 41 minutes and 37 seconds.
At 11.8 km, Dany Croteau finished on top in 1 hour and 9 minutes.
For women, Mélanie Nadeau finished in 1 hour and 22 minutes.
David Leporho took home the gold with a time of 1 hour and 59 minutes, in the 22 km category, with Sarah Bergeron Larouche finishing in 2 hours and 26 minutes in the women’s division.
Next weekend, the X races continue at Mount Sutton, with the first X-Man Race of the summer taking place.
More than 52 obstacles will have to be overcome by the participants during the race.
