MAGOG — A 39-year-old man from Magog was arrested for drunk driving early Sunday morning after falling asleep in his car while waiting in line at the McDonald’s drive-through.
Police say that they were notified at around 2 a.m., when an employee of the McDonald’s restaurant in Magog called to notify them that a man who had just ordered some poutine was unresponsive inside his vehicle.
Employees had taken his order, and while motioning for him to move forward noticed that he was slumped over. For a while they thought that the customer was just writing a text message, but after a few minutes approached the vehicle and learned that he was asleep.
When police arrived they found the driver had left his car parked in the drive-through lane, and moved inside the restaurant. Police say he was visibly intoxicated, and arrested him for driving while impaired.
The man failed breathalyzer testing twice, blowing a rate three times the legal limit.
He was released with a promise to appear in court, and his license has been suspended for 30 days.
Police say he had no other criminal record.
